FAQ

What is the maximum time I can keep an indoor plant alive for?

Indoor plants can survive for several years. However, it's important to repot your plant every few months to help promote new growth. Repotting is easy; simply remove the old soil and add fresh compost.

What is the minimum space required to grow vegetables?

It is best to remember that 1/2 pound of seed will be required for every square foot. Therefore, 100 pounds of seeds is required for a surface of 10 feet x 10 feet (3 m x 3 m).

What is your favorite vegetable garden layout?

It is important to consider where you live when planning your vegetable garden. You should plant vegetables together if you live in a city. For maximum yield, however, it is best to space your plants if you are in a rural area.

Which seeds can be planted indoors?

The best seed for starting indoors is a tomato seed. Tomatoes produce year-round fruit and are easy to plant. If you are growing tomatoes in pots, take care when you transplant them to the ground. How To

Use organic fertilizers in your garden

Organic fertilizers are made of natural substances like manure, compost and fish emulsion. Organic fertilizers are made from non-synthetic materials. Synthetic fertilizers include chemicals used in industrial processes. They are widely used in agriculture because they provide nutrients to plants quickly and efficiently without requiring laborious preparation methods. However, synthetic fertilizers pose risks to human health and the environment. Synthetic fertilizers require large amounts of energy as well as water to be produced. Moreover, many synthetic fertilizers pollute groundwater and surface waters due to runoff. This pollution can be harmful for both wildlife and humans.

There are several kinds of organic fertilisers:

* Manure - produced when livestock eat food containing nitrogen (a plant nutrient). It has bacteria and enzymes that help to break down the waste, resulting in simple compounds that are easy for plants to absorb.

* Compost is a mixture of vegetable scraps and grass clippings, animal manure, and decaying leaves. It is rich in carbon, nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, magnesium and sulfur. It is highly porous so it can retain moisture well and release nutrients slowly.

* Fish Emulsion – A liquid product derived from fish oils. It is similar to soap in its ability to dissolve oils and fats. It also contains trace elements, phosphorous and nitrogen.

* Seaweed Extract - a concentrated solution of minerals extracted from kelp, red algae, brown algae, and green algae. It is a good source of vitamins A, C, iron, and iodine.

* Guano is the excrement of seabirds and bats. It is rich in nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium as well as sodium, magnesium, sulfate and chloride.

* Blood Meal, the remains from slaughtered animals. It is high in protein, making it suitable for feeding poultry and other livestock. It also contains trace minerals like phosphorus, potassium and nitrogen.

Mix equal amounts of compost, manure, and/or fish oil to make organic fertilizer. Mix thoroughly. If you don't have all three ingredients, you can substitute them one for another. If you have only access to the fish oil emulsion, then you can combine 1 part fish emulsion and 2 parts compost.

Spread the fertilizer evenly on the soil with a shovel, or tiller. The fertilizer should be about 1/4 cup per square foot. You will need to add more fertilizer every two weeks until you see signs of new growth.
